Jonathan Kent’s accepted birthday traditionally is September 1, which this year, 2009, fell on Labor Day. Thanks again to http://supermanhomepage.com .
In this episode we will explore Jonathan Kent’s history, and the development of the story of Clark Kent’s youth. The names of Clark Kent’s adoptive parents changed during the golden age of comics, until they settled on the familiar names of Jonathan and Martha Kent.
Also, we will explore the different pre- and post- Crisis versions of Jonathan Kent.
Finally we will explore the silver age story THE LAST DAYS OF PA AND MA KENT, from SUPERMAN #161, May 1963 issue. This story is reprinted in the DC Comics trade paperback, SUPERMAN IN THE SIXTIES (1999).
