ACTION COMICS 300, May 1963, was published on March 28, 1963. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of 12¢. The editor was Mort Weisinger, and the cover was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by George Klein. This cover also served as the cover to the edition it was reprinted in, SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERMAN vol. IV.

– The Man of Steel starred in the fourteen page story titled, SUPERMAN UNDER THE RED SUN, written by Edmond Hamilton and drawn by Al Plastino. This story was also reprinted in, SUPERMAN: PAST AND FUTURE.

– Supergirl starred in the eleven page story titled, THE RETURN OF SUPER-HORSE, written by Leo Dorfman and drawn by Jim Mooney. This story has also been reprinted in, SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERGIRL vol. II.

Also highlighted in this episode are the ads and other features in this issue, including the METROPOLIS MAILBAG letter column.

Elsewhere in DC Comics, 29 titles carried the May or May/June 1963 cover date, according to Mike’s Amazing World Of DC Comics.

SUPERMAN 161, May 1963, was published around March 21, 1963. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of 12¢. Mort Weisinger was the editor, and the cover was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by George Klein. It featured the issue’s second and final story, and both stories have been reprinted in, SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERMAN vol. IV.

– THE LAST DAYS OF MA AND PA KENT (13 pgs.), was written by Leo Dorfman and drawn by Al Plastino. This story has also been reprinted in, SUPERMAN IN THE SIXTIES. It also carried the subtitle of AN UNTOLD TALE OF SUPERMAN, which was the 17th such tale about the Man of Steel, if my count is right.

– SUPERMAN GOES TO WAR (12 pgs.), was written by Edmond Hamilton, pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by George Klein.

WORLD’S FINEST COMICS 110, June 1960, was published on April 19, 1960. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of a dime. The editor was Jack Schiff, and the cover was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by Sheldon Moldoff.

– THE ALIEN WHO DOOMED ROBIN (12 pgs.), was written by Jerry Coleman, pencilled by Dick Sprang and inked by Sheldon Moldoff. This story was reprinted in WORLD’S FINEST COMICS ARCHIVE vol. III and SHOWCASE PRESENTS: WORLD’S FINEST vol. I.

– Tommy Tomorrow starred in the seven page story, THE ROBOT RAIDERS, writer unknown, drawn by Jim Mooney.

– Green Arrow and his sidekick Speedy were featured in the seven page story, THE SINISTER SPECTRUM MAN, written by Ed Herron and drawn by Lee Elias, and reprinted in SHOWCASE PRESENTS: GREEN ARROW vol. I.

During this episode I failed to mention that 28 titles carried the June or June/July 1960 cover date, according to Mike’s Amazing World Of DC Comics, which was covered back in Episode 215 for the week of January 25, 2012.

SUPERMAN’S PAL JIMMY OLSEN 45, April 7, 2014, was published on April 7, 1960. It contained 32 pages for the cover price of  10¢. The editor was Mort Weisinger, and the cover was pencilled by Curt Swan and inked by Stan Kaye, It featured the issues first story (and reminded me of the cover to SUPERMAN 123, August 1958, which featured the very first Supergirl story. That story was covered back in Episode 123 for the week of Wednesday, March 2, 2011). All three stories have been reprinted in SHOWCASE PRESENTS: SUPERMAN FAMILY vol. IV. The art team for all three stories was penciller Curt Swan and inker John Forte.

– TOM BAKER, POWER LAD (9 pgs.), written by Otto Binder.

– THE GUNSMOKE KID (9 pgs.), writer unknown.

– THE ANIMAL MASTER OF METROPOLIS (9 pgs.), writer Robert Bernstein.
